From Jealousy to Joy: Celebrating Friends' Success Together

Have you ever stopped to ponder the dynamics of friendship, especially when it comes to celebrating the good times? It's easy to be there for our friends when life gets tough – offering a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear, or a helping hand. But what about those joyous celebrations and triumphs? Do we show up with the same enthusiasm, or do we secretly nurse a twinge of jealousy?

When you share a deep connection with someone, you develop a sort of telepathic understanding. You can sense when they need you most, whether it's during a crisis or when life is showering them with blessings. In times of loss, illness, or any setbacks, friends rally to provide comfort and support. That's a fundamental aspect of friendship, no doubt. But what about the times when life is all sunshine and rainbows for your pals?

Promotions, graduations, weddings, and good news – these are the moments that define success and happiness in our lives. Naturally, your friends would want you right there beside them during these milestones. But here's the catch: life has a funny way of getting in the way sometimes. Our own busy schedules can pull us in different directions, making it easy to forget to make time for our friends. Or, perhaps we're so caught up in our own struggles that celebrating with them feels like an uphill climb. Sometimes, we even take their joy for granted, assuming that our presence during their trials is enough to be a good friend.

The truth is, being a true friend goes beyond just offering support during hardships. Success and happiness lose their luster when there's no one to share them with. Your friends want you in their corner, cheering them on when they hit those high notes in life. So, let's try not to let life's distractions keep us from joining their victory dances.

Taking a moment from our chaotic lives to celebrate our friends' happy moments is a beautiful way to let them know they matter. It's a two-way street, really. When your friends invite you to join in their celebrations, they're also paying you a profound honor. Think about it – we only invite those we truly cherish to our birthdays, to meet our newborns, or to pop that champagne when we hit our milestones. When your friends ask you to be there for their happiness, consider it a testament to the richness of your friendship.

So, next time a friend wants you to share in their joy, take a moment to feel honored that they thought of inviting you. Together, you can bask in their happiness and deepen the bonds of your friendship. After all, what are friends for if not to be there in both the sun and the storm? ~RS

“Friendship is a treasure, a source of support and joy. I cherish the bonds I share with my friends, and I am grateful for the love, trust, and laughter they bring into my life."

Meat from the Future: Lab-Grown Lion Burgers and Mammoth Meatballs!

JUST WEIRD SHIT !!! 😜

Imagine strolling into a restaurant and finding zebra steaks and lion burgers on the menu. Sounds wild, right? Well, it's not as far-fetched as you might think. Thanks to technological advancements in cell-cultivated meat, food startups are getting pretty creative with their offerings.

The first cell-cultivated chicken in the US got the green light from the USDA recently. But now, they're taking it a step further:

  • A company called Vow cooked up a woolly mammoth meatball by injecting its DNA sequence, along with some elephant genes, into sheep cells and growing it into a meatball.

  • Primeval Foods is working on a variety of "wild" meats, including lion and zebra.

  • Paleo is busy making lab-grown protein heme, the magic ingredient that gives meat its meaty flavor, identical to that found in prehistoric mammoths.

There are more than 150 companies in the cultivated meat game, as of 2022. But here's the catch: most of these products are still in their early stages, so you can't order them for dinner just yet.

While these lab-grown meats are cruelty-free, some worry that they might normalize the consumption of exotic species. And when it comes to environmental impact, opinions differ. One study says it could reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while another suggests the opposite.

Oh, and there's a little problem with the price tag. Lab-grown meat costs around $17 per pound, whereas traditional beef production is about $2 per pound. And the real kicker? No one has even tasted that mammoth meatball – who knows if we're allergic to it? So, while we're in the era of cultivated meat, there's still a lot to chew on.

And we have a winner! Fat Bear Week 2023 concluded on Tuesday evening, and 128 Grazer came out on top. “Grazer’s combination of skill and toughness makes her one of Brooks River’s most formidable, successful, and adaptable bears, who is well prepared for winter,” the National Park Service wrote on Instagram. Even though the annual competition is over, you can still tune in to Explore.org’s bear cam to spot Grazer and her fellow brown bears hanging out and hunting for salmon in Alaska’s Katmai National Park.
